The arrangements for admitting children to King Edward VII School is done in conjunction with Leicestershire County Council’s admission policy for the education of pupils of all abilities in the Leicestershire area.

This guide is designed to help you through the process for applying for admission to King Edward VII in September 2009. The arrangements for admission to King Edward VII have been agreed in conjunction with Leicestershire County Council.

Time for application

The process for admission to King Edward VII in September 2009 starts in September 2008.

The timetable for application for admission to King Edward reflects the practice for all schools in Leicestershire Local Authority (LA) area and is intended to secure a coordinated approach to secondary school admissions.

SCHOOL TRANSFERS IN SEPTEMBER 2009:

PARENTS MUST APPLY BETWEEN

1st SEPTEMBER 2008 AND 20th OCTOBER 2008

Application forms are sent to homes on 1st September.

Apply by 20th October at the latest - late applications have lowest priority.

There are two ways to apply for a school place

Online: this is the most direct way:

  • For an online application form: www.leics.gov.uk/admissions
  • You are advised to give your email address to receive an automatic acknowledgement.
  • It is also advisable to print off a copy of your application or at least note the reference number.
  • If you do not have the internet at home, some public and community places offer access, e.g. libraries.

By post:

Complete the form sent to you on 1st September and return it to the address on the form (do not hand in to schools). We do not send automatic acknowledgements so you are advised to:

  • Keep a copy
  • Get some proof of posting or receipt
  • Fill in the acknowledgement card (your address and a stamp needed) so we can send it back to you.

We regret that we cannot accept applications by telephone or facsimile. Please use one of the above methods.

Remember:

  • Everyone must apply - there are no guaranteed school places.
  • Apply before the deadline of 20th October 2008.
